What is your mission and who do you serve?
VANTAGE Aging Senior Community Service Employment Program (SCSEP) is an on-the-job workforce training program for low-income individuals who are 55 and older, currently unemployed, and looking to get back into the workforce. Individual Employment Plans (IEPs) are created with program job seekers to help them achieve their goals. We are trying to build self-confidence and remind job seekers that they can maintain self-sufficiency.
What is one thing someone might not know about your organization or is unique about your organization?
We welcome non-traditional job seekers to apply for the program. While they do have to be 55 or older, unemployed, and meet the income requirement, we welcome people of all abilities and backgrounds to apply for SCSEP.
Also, VANTAGE Aging turns 50 years old in 2025!
How do you work in partnership with the OhioMeansJobs Centers?
Job seekers in SCSEP are required to register with OhioMeansJobs (OMJ) so they are aware of what resources the OMJ centers offer. We also refer people to go to OMJ for additional job searching and resume help.
An SCSEP participant was placed in the OhioMeansJobs Stark County Center for his work experience to get his training in the administrative/customer service pathway.
