Additional Employer Services

OhioMeansJobs Stark and Tuscarawas Counties is northeastern Ohio’s premier workforce development and training centers that connects job seekers with employers by providing numerous resources in a single location. It is a free service made possible through funds provided by the U.S. Department of Labor through the Stark Tuscarawas Workforce Development Board and operated locally by the Workforce Initiative Association, a regional council of governments created by the Stark and Tuscarawas County Commissioners and the Mayor of the City of Canton.

The Business Services Department

Services Include:

Employment Recruiters

Offers no-cost recruitment services to employers by utilizing a personal recruiter assigned to the company. Resumes can be filtered through to their assigned recruiter or directed to employers by request.

Communication & Outreach Services

Our communication/outreach team will tailor services to maximize exposure and awareness of your business and hiring needs to include:

  • ¬†Provide Job Postings on www.ohiomeansjobs.com¬†and advertise on our local OhioMeansJobs Stark & Tuscarawas Counties website (www.omjwork.com).
  • Social media posts on multiple platforms including Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn and Twitter.
  • Communication to OhioMeansJobs center partners and community stakeholders to create awareness of the employer’s hiring needs.
  • Tailored outreach opportunities unique to your hiring needs which may include radio advertisement, employer interviews, video, special website features, etc.

Open Recruitments/Facility Usage

Your recruiter will help you with the complete onsite set-up (rooms, tables, signage, presentation equipment, etc.) and interworking (registration, guidance, or instruction of attendees, etc.) of the open recruitment at the OhioMeansJobs Center for no-cost. You can interview as many applicants as possible and utilize our computer lab, as needed, for applications and pre-employment testing.

Job Fairs (In-person and NEW virtual)

We organize, set-up and provide assistance in the operations and development of county-wide job fairs for area employers to connect job seekers with open positions.

LMI – Labor Market Information

Occupational employment and wage data is available upon request utilizing Ohio Labor Market information.

Wanted Analytics Workforce

Documentation that pertains to talent availability by industry/position within the surrounding areas.

Incumbent Worker Training Services

Incumbent Worker Training (IWT) is an employer-sponsored program made available through OhioMeansJobs Stark and Tuscarawas Counties that provides grant funding to assist eligible businesses (with a primary emphasis on manufacturing and healthcare industries) offset the cost of training their existing (incumbent) workers. Its intent is to create a stronger workforce for workers and employers with the opportunity to build and maintain a quality workforce and avert layoffs

OJTs (On-The-Job-Training)

On-The-Job Training (OJT) helps off-set the costs of training a new employee and is an available program for eligible job seekers and employers. An agreement must be established with the centers prior to the individual being hired.

Rapid Response

A service available to companies that are downsizing or closing to assist potentially affected employees with reemployment assistance to get back to work quickly. Services are tailored to meet the needs of employees and can be provided onsite or at the OhioMeansJobs centers
