What is your mission, and who do you serve?
Our mission is to provide the personal and professional development skills for our adult learners to obtain industry credentials for career employment in Northeast Ohio in-demand jobs, and future success in life.
What is one thing someone might not know about your organization?
Although associated with the Canton City School District, our program offers workforce training to adults from all over Northeast Ohio.
How do you work in partnership with the OhioMeansJobs Centers?
We work with the OhioMeansJobs Centers through the WIOA programs and career training.
At times, students don’t qualify for Title IV funding or other scholarship/grant opportunities. In collaboration with OhioMeansJobs Stark & Tuscarawas Counties, students have been able to complete the program at little to no cost; otherwise, program completion would not be possible.

We at the Canton City Schools Adult Community Education are celebrating the success of our students who have ventured into a non-traditional field.

After working as a welder for seven years, Keegan faced an unexpected career change when the company he worked for abruptly closed its doors.
Although initially hesitant about entering the nursing field, a deeply personal experience helped shape that decision. During his daughter’s battle with cancer, the compassion and dedication shown by the hospital nursing staff left a lasting impression and inspired Keegan to pursue a career helping others. Today, his daughter is three years in remission.
With support and funding assistance from OhioMeansJobs Stark & Tuscarawas Counties, Keegan enrolled in the LPN program at Canton City Schools to begin training for a new career in nursing. He is set to graduate this June, 2026.
“I wanted to become a nurse because of my love to help others,” Aaron shared, a passion that led him to pursue his education at Canton City School District. What made the experience even more meaningful was being able to go through the program alongside his beautiful wife, supporting one another every step of the way.
“I do not regret the decision to join this program in the slightest.” The experience not only strengthened his commitment to the nursing field, but also confirmed that he made the right choice for his future. “I would do it again and recommend this program to all who are interested in entering the field.”

Kinnidi chose the welding field because it seemed challenging. “It seems easy but hard at the same time,” she explained, appreciating that there is always something new to learn. Through her experience at Canton City Schools, she discovered a skill that continues to push and motivate her.
Looking back, she says, “I’m very happy with the decision I made.” Welding has given her a skill that can take her many places, while also creating opportunities to one day teach and inspire others.
“What made me want to become a welder is the stability and the art of welding,” Annette shared. As an artist, welding felt like a natural fit, combining creativity with hands-on skill. She has always been fascinated by “how metals mesh and mend together to hold structures,” and hopes that one day the experience she is gaining could even lead to opening her own business.
To support her training at Canton City Schools, she received funding assistance from OhioMeansJobs Stark & Tuscarawas Counties to pursue her journey into the welding field.
“I’m very happy I made the choice to become a welder because now I know I have a stable career that’s going to take me far for the rest of my life.”
