What is your mission and who do you serve?
Our mission is to promote economic self-sufficiency among low-income families and individuals of Stark County.
Community Action Agencies (CAAs) are intended to promote self-sufficiency, and they depend heavily on volunteer work, especially from the low-income community. Although most CAAs operate Head Start programs, which focus on early child development. Other programs frequently administered by Community Action Agencies include Low-Income Home Energy Assistance (LIHEAP) utility grants and Weatherization Assistance Program (WAP) funded through the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE).

What is one thing someone might not know about or is unique about your organization?
Community Action Pathways HUB is a free program that can help you have a healthy pregnancy and delivery. The HUB provides support, education, and uses life experience to help connect you to other community resources that can help you and your baby.

How do you work in partnership with the OhioMeansJobs Centers?
Partnered with the OhioMeansJobs Centers, SCCAA operates a summer youth program that provides paid training and work experiences that are hands-on opportunities for career exploration and skill development for Stark County youth (ages 16-24).
We also work closely with OhioMeansJobs’ Employer Services to find qualified candidates to fill our open positions.
